FAQs
- Where is the water tank installed?
The sealed tank is installed in a location decided by the resident. Ideally the tank is located in a covered or shaded area (i.e. garage, outbuilding or carport close to the house). The water tank holds 57 gallons; for high use situations two 57-gallon tanks can be installed in sequence.
- How much space will the tank use?
The tank is about the size of a large garbage can. Roughly two feet across and about 3 feet tall. Three 5-gallon water bottles placed in a triangle take up more space.
- Can the tank be installed in a sunny area?
Yes, if there is no other convenient locations in the shade. The tanks are sealed and impervious to the elements.
- How is water in the tank protected from algae buildup?
The water delivered is purified and pumped into the sealed tank. All the particles that can cause algae are removed during the purification process. Algae does not grow in the water even when the tank is in direct sunlight.
- How is the system powered?
The storage tank is equipped with a small pump operated via regular household power outlet. Ideally it is located near a wall outlet but using an extension cord is also adequate.
- How is the tank connected to a water outlet?
The tank is connected via a small tube routed through the attic and walls to a small faucet built onto or near the kitchen sink. The tank can also be connected to a refrigerator with a water and ice dispenser. A faucet can also be installed directly onto the water tank.
- What is the service interval for the system?
The water tank is serviced when filled at installation to ensure all connections are sealed. The tank pumps typically last 3-5 years, some as long as 10 years. No tank maintenance is needed.
- How often does the tank need to be refilled?
Depending on the household size, 57 gallons typically lasts one month. Initially, refills are made once a month and are adjusted as water needs for a household are determined (either to shorter or longer refill intervals). The tank can be refilled on request if the supply is used before the monthly delivery.
- What is the distance needed between the water tank and delivery truck parking area?
Delivery trucks are equipped with 200' of hose. We can access any part of a home from the street.
- How are water delivery/tank refill appointments arranged?
Refills are scheduled on a 4-week monthly basis. Deliveries are made on the same day every month i.e. every second Tuesday of the month). Monthly delivery receipts will note the next delivery date.
